WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

This highly interactive course will explore the key issues related to Portfolio Management (PfM) using real-life experiences, lessons from research, and practical case studies while allowing and encouraging participants to discuss issues of concern and to share experiences. The emphasis of the workshop will be on, portfolio management as:

an active set of processes and techniques to ensure that you do the right projects, do projects right, and optimise the value created
a basis for ‘fast and frugal’ decision-making creating a clear line of sight from strategic intent to benefits realisation
a value-led activity where the value of portfolio management is seen in enhanced strategic contribution and real efficiency savings

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Stephen Jenner is one of the world’s top Portfolio Management subject matter experts. He is a frequent speaker at PPM and PMO conferences, Steve is also a regular speaker at international conferences and writer on the subjects of portfolio and benefits management. In recent years he has presented to the OECD, the European Commission in Australia, USA, Canada and across Europe. Steve is co-author and chief examiner for the OGC’s Management of Portfolios, and formerly Portfolio Director for the UK’s Criminal Justice Service which won awards and is cited in the 'run' category of Gartner's 'Crawl, Walk, Run' framework.

I had the great privilege of attending a workshop run by PMOworks featuring Steve Jenner – it was a full-on day of portfolio management immersion, entitled Delivering Performance via Project Portfolio Management. What I’ll not do in this review is steal too much of Steve’s thunder, because I can really recommend you to book on it yourself if you want to learn more about the why’s and wherefores of portfolio management. It will be money and time well spent.
